The Polish Parliament, or the Sejm, hold its sessions in a parliament complex built between 1925 and 1928 and later developed between 1949 and 1952. The complex is located in Warsaw, at 4/6/8 Wiejska Street, between Górnośląska and Maszyńskiego streets.
The main building of the Sejm was built during its major refurbishment in 1949-1952. It consists of two 2-storey sections, connected with overhead passages. Below them, there is a roadway leading to the main entrance.
The Meeting Hall is the largest hall in the complex and the place where the Sejm debates. It is decorated with a frieze composed of eighteen stone slabs with bas-reliefs depicting inter alia: the liberation, craftsmanship, religion, fine arts, ploughing, press and education. One of the most beautiful rooms, on the other hand, is the Column Hall, owing its name to slender, symmetrical columns supporting the ceiling. Its marble floor is decorated with colourful rosettes of multi-coloured marbles and golden chalcedony. Stucco decorations on the ceiling and crystal candelabra are effective ornaments complementing the interior design.
