US diplomatic mission, located at 29/31 Aleje Ujazdowskie (Av.)
The modernist five-storey building of the embassy is in visual conflict with the historical development of its surrounding. As late as in the 1960s, a 19th-century palace stood in this place, in which the Polish Radio used to have its office back after the WW2. The palace was demolished in 1963 after its status was changed into a non-historical object.
At the helm of the American diplomatic mission in Poland stands the head of the mission with the title of an ambassador, and a deputy head of the mission. Embassy employees deal with the protection and promotion of US interests in Poland through diplomatic relations with the Polish government, as well as through trade contacts and public diplomacy.
The employees of the consular section deal with consular relations between Poland and the United States, issue immigrant and non-immigrant visas, and provide assistance to US citizens, both in day-to-day and urgent matters.
